What Is A Green Smoothie?

A green smoothie is a homemade drink made from fresh leafy greens, such as, kale, collards, Swiss chard, and spinach, and fresh, ripe fruit. When you blend greens together with fruit, you create a concoction that is both delicious and nutritious. This enables you to easily and painlessly consume lots of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and reap the associated health benefits.

Since my mother, Victoria Boutenko, invented green smoothies in 2004, my family has been conducting seminars and week long green smoothie retreats all over the world. At these events, I’ve witnessed how a simple dietary shift (regular intake of green smoothies) can help those struggling with health problems regain their health.

I became curious what effects (if any) would occur if seemly healthy, athletic people were put on this same smoothie protocol. Would they feel lighter on their feet? Would their endurance improve? Would they notice any other positive changes?

I searched the Internet for studies on this subject, but found nothing.  So I decided to conduct my own study. I rounded up 10 of my most active friends and put them on a green smoothie challenge for six weeks. Each athlete was put through vigorous blood tests and endurance tests and was instructed to intake one quart of freshly-made green smoothie daily in addition to his or her regular diet and exercise routine.  The entire experiment was closely monitored by qualified professionals in order to collect the cleanest data possible.
